The Designer

Tobechukwu Asikoko

A multidisciplinary creative professional with over a decade of experience in studio management and garment production. With a BA and MA in Theatre Arts and an MA in Design (Fashion) from Teesside University, Tobe blends dramatic storytelling with meticulous craftsmanship.

A former Creative Lead at Tobe Designs (Nigeria) and an intern at the prestigious Ferrari Fashion School in Milan, Tobe's work is recognised for its Kolascape—signature fabrics inspired by the kolanut. Tobe also designed and produced HereX, a collection inspired by the mental health experiences of international students in the UK.

The Journey

A Life in Creativity

2007

BA Theatre Arts — Delta State University, Nigeria

Began a creative journey rooted in storytelling and cultural expression. Wrote and directed theatre productions, winning 3rd place regionally during NYSC (2008).

2014

MA Theatre Arts — University of Ibadan, Nigeria & Founder, Tobe Designs

Deepened expertise in dramatic arts while founding Tobe Designs, a made-to-measure fashion label. Managed a studio with 4–6 staff, developing the signature Kolascape fabric range and serving high-profile clients across Nigeria.

2023

MA Design (Fashion) — Teesside University, UK

Relocated to the UK to pursue an MA in Fashion Design with Advanced Practice. Developed signature kolanut-inspired textiles and designed & produced HereX, a collection inspired by the mental health experiences of international students in the UK.

2024

Fashion Intern — Ferrari Fashion School, Milan, Italy

Trained in garment construction, designing, luxury fashion systems, and material experimentation. Internship partly funded by the UK Turing Scheme.

2025

Graduate Runway Show — Teesside University, May 2025

Showcased the Kolanut Collection. Collection featured by Guardian Nigeria and Teesside University official channels. Also presented at Gambia International Fashion Showcase (November 2025), featured in BusinessDay Nigeria.

2026

London Fashion Week — September 2026

Upcoming showcase at London Fashion Week (September 2026), presenting new collections exploring identity, connection, and global unity.
